I have always had a decent working relationship with Davis for the most part but this latest action by him is one of, if not the most petty and childish things I have ever seen. Sam Vincent has been his friend for over 25 years and now Davis is strong arming him into resigning.
The part that really pissed me off is that Davis told me it was "misconstrued" and yet here we are today seeing that Sam Vincent said that is exactly what was said. I'm not sure how requiring an employee planning to file for candidacy to submit an undated letter of resignation prior to filing...or Any employee being offered a position by a potential candidate must also submit an undated letter of resignation had been misconstrued
This is the dumbest thing Davis could have done, because many many people I have spoken to about Sam have told me about his great Character, his skills as a Lawyer and just what a great person that he is, and Davis pulls this BS. Whoever that is working on his campaign that told him it was time to turn the wick up on Sam may have just cost him his job.
This is as petty as it gets, you run against me ..how dare you..I want your letter of resignation, The other part to this that is sad is the second part of this act. The "any employee being offered a position by a potential candidate must also submit an undated letter of resignation" part.
What this is trying to do is paint to the public that Sam is sneaking around the office recruiting people for his side and undermining the State's Attorneys Office. This part pisses me off because in a very subtle way he is attacking Sam's character. I again have talked to several attorney's about this and they all said Sam would never do that and if you knew him you would know better, to which I replied yea if you know him, but to the uneducated voter it isn't so clear is it.
Petty Politics 101 folks and it now has come between 2 long time friends. The same people that I talked to also said that Sam Vincent is the work horse at that office and with Davis forcing him to resign he is the one that is weakening and dividing the State's Attorney Office. I have to wonder if Davis needing this election to get his State's Attorney retirement pension has made him up the pettiness level on his long time friend.
I told Davis yesterday that he should have just left it alone and let the voters decide who was best for the job and done it the gentlemanly way, but instead someone close to Davis thought this was the play to make.
I cannot and will not support Davis in this election now, because I don't like this behavior on his part. Davis Ruark is a nice guy and I personally don't have any beef with him, but I pick people on character and this play shows a lack of it on his part and for that reason the Salisbury Grinch will support Sam Vincent in the upcoming election.
