The Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office has and I see continues to be a great issue of divide among the people on blog sites and I want to chime in as one of those blogs. The perception has been from the beginning of this blog in 2008 that Outgoing State's Attorney Davis Ruark had a special relationship with sbynews and Joe Albero which caused alot of hatred to be aimed toward Davis for this issue.
Did said relationship exist? I honestly cannot tell you, you will find just as many people that swear it's true as you do people that say no way he only tolerated Joe. Davis was always fair with me during the years, but I state again there were times that I felt like more could have been done about the behavior on that other site but instead warnings were the only thing handed out to him.
This brings us to Matt Maciarello who will be sworn in as State's Attorney in January and already as a person opposed to everything and anything sbynews related I am asked constantly via phone calls and emails if Matt is with Joe. The answer is an emphatic no, he is with neither side. Matt cannot as well as Davis could not specifically single Joe Albero out and say leave my party, or don't take my picture. Honestly there is nothing he can do about it, the same as if it was me doing it.
We do not need to be burdening Matt with all the crime going on with these stupid constant questions surrounding his involvement with Joe when there is none. It is unfair to Matt to paint him with the veil of uncertainty that people felt about Davis and Joe when we are dealing with two entirely different people. Just because many of the same people {e.g Mike Lewis} are friendly with both means nothing. Trust Matt to not get caught up in the childish blog games because his job is to Prosecute the criminals that threaten our way of life, in that grand scheme sbynews and the salisbury grinch mean nothing.

The SA and police can do NOTHING about consitutionally protected free speech. Just look at how successful Chief Webster and Barrie Tilghman were thousands of dollars later.

This is all I was waiting to hear. Some explanation of their perceived friendship. Joe Albero is a master at spinning and he certainly made it seem like they were tight (just like he was Ruark).

Anonymous 12:10. Nobody is talking about free speech. Acts such as stalking, harassment, identity theft, gas theft, perjury - all done by Albero - are the criminal acts he should be held accountable for.
Joe has a knack of being able to horn in on anything and everything. I have been to a few political events where both attended. Joe interrupts conversations and hangs around like a puppy waiting for its owner to pat his head. I think this is one politician we can trust...did I really just say that?

I think you're feeling some guilt about your rants against Davis
Unfortunately Joe Albero has been given far too much power in this community. If he takes a disliking to you, he has carte blanche to ruin your life, That is not free speech. That is a tyrant. Tyrants are dangerous.
As many know, Davis threatened to lock up Joe when he erroneously reported that Sarah's body was found on Christmas Eve, when she has not yet been located. I think that Davis tried to be fair to all, and in the end, no one liked his approach because he made neither side happy by his approach. Having known and worked with him for years, I can honestly say that he is thoroughly dedicated to victims and their families as well as the people he served. Davis is a pure gentleman, and you do not know how many sleepless nights he's spent after Sam's death. He's my friend, he will always be my State's Attorney and the best with whom I've ever worked. God bless him in his future. He deserves pure happiness. He doesn't even hold a grudge against Joel Todd or Chief DiPino who caused him to be charged with a DUI when he was less than a block away from his borrowed condo in Ocean City. He holds no grudge against the lawyers who backstabbed him over the past months. He deserves support from all of us. If he leaves Wicomico County, he is a loss to all because, like him or not, he is a tremendous legal resource, the best trial lawyer I've ever seen and an all around nice guy who doesn't pump himself up for all he does for this community. People might want to start saying a big Thank You for all that he's accomplished for us. He's withdrawing from policy decisions when requested by law enforcement and the courts, deferring to the incoming State's Attorney. Matt will not perform miracles, he will not suddenly reduce crime - I just hope he learns from the best and can build upon the best State's Attorney's Office the Eastern Shore, the house that Davis and Sam built. God help him - because Sam and Davis waa the best team ever!
Anonymous 8:17. If Albero's involvement in the early stages of the Foxwell cases turns out to be the undoing of the State's case against Leggs, and the fact that he "knew" or "was told" or "had a hunch" that she was found 24 hours prior to her "official discovery" makes him a person of interest and lets Leggs off, there will be hell to pay in this County.
Anonymous 12:17 - There will be hell to pay because Davis Ruark will hold any person responsible for any possible problem in this case fully and totally accountable to him personally, to him professionally, to the people of Wicomico County and State of Maryland, and last but not least, to the Court. You do not want to really cross the line and get onto Davis' bad side. As nice a guy as he is, you really don't want to screw Davis over badly.
