Last night at the FOP meeting in Princess Anne Bobby Jones again had nothing new to say except instead of I'm not going to change, it was blame the County Commissioners. Bobby is trying desperately to place the blame on someone else for his inept job running the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.
After 25 years Bobby you should know what economic problems are, and best utilize what you have and not pass the buck off on the MSP and throw your hands in the air. The people deserve 24/7 protection and with far too few MSP available to be in all the Rural Somerset areas you take the responsibility of protecting these people.

My suggestion is to cut back the budget on the sheriff department and just let them do what they are suppose to do and that is serve the court. Most people don't realize that the sheriff department isn't suppose to be out there enforcing all the laws, they are mainly suppose to serve the court. Save some money and cut them back and let them do what they are supposed to do. Jones built this empire over the last 25 years and now it's out of control. Scale it back with fewer deputies and you will really save a lot of tax payer money.

1:36 Not exactly true! Somerset County the last county in the state where MSP is the main law enforcement agency outside of the local agencies jurisdidtion. It is the only one in the state without 24/7 county wide patrol, be it several local agencies or a county force. In most counties, MSP either alternates the criminal calls with the county force, or are only resposible for traffic incidents. In many counties MSP only handles accidents on state roads.

Bobby has had 25 years to incorporate 24/7 protection and services to the taxpayers,but refuses to do so.He has no problem abusing the Md State Police,after all Bobby and his staff have power over MSP.Bobby is making 70,000.00 a year and his deputies average between 45,000.00 and 64,000.00 a year with benefits and retirement.Bobby and staff are pretty smart, they collect full time benefits,retirement,and unlimited use of county vehicles and only provide part protection and services.They then step back and blame the commissioner,while they shit on MSP and laugh at them and call them names.Bobby it doesn't take 24 deputies to get the judge water and files.
It's called empire building 1:45. I still say the main focus is saving money. Just because everybody else does it, doesn't make it right. It is NOT the main job of the Sheriff dept to provide 24/7 coverage. If in fact the sheriff dept was cut back, more state troopers could be added. It's not rocket science, state police would do a much better job and the sheriff dept could just do what they do best, serve papers for the court.

That's a good theory, but the state police can't even hire enough to replace the one's that they
lose to attrition. They want to get away from full service, tht requires a larger staff than a highway barrack. They are the lowest paid state police agency per median income in one of the most taxed states in the US. High mileage cars, low pay, aged equipment, MSP is hurting right now.
This must be how the people of Iraq felt when Saddam Hussein was being removed from power.I will feel hopeful again for Somerset County if Allan Webster is elected,which I believe he will be.We have a sheriff,that much like Saddam was,does not think he is supposed to answer to anyone and can just do whatever he wants with no consequences.I pray every night that Bobby Jones pays for what he did to Troy Durham.It was wrong on so many levels.If only there was a statue of Bobby Jones in front of the Sheriff`s Office that we could pull down and drag through the streets of Somerset County to celebrate when this is over!!

After seeing Salisbubry Paolice Departments morale and employment issues, do you really think Webster will be any better? Jones is a figurehead, Howard, Nelson, Tyler and Bromley run the show. Honestly, as much as people may complain, they do well with what they have. As to Troy Durham, he's not the innocent angel portrayed in the posts that I've seen and he had it coming to him. I'd be pretty vertain that most of the posts that are pro Troy are authored by Troy, as well as the one's by the alleged person anonymous person in the sheriff's dept that is trying to anger people with his smart*** comments. I have obtained some of Troy Durham documents and have study them in detail.After reading them,I now understand the desperation of Somerset County Sheriff's Office and the Somerset County Commissioners to cover this case up at all cost and the keep the truth from the public.First things first,documents show that Sheriff Robert Bobby Jones had hired Troy Durham twice,just as recent as 2006.Bobby promoted him twice and was about to promote Troy to rank of corporal.Bobby had sent Troy to leadership school and supervisor school and field training school.Bobby had designed Troy to be the office's training officer for new officers coming in the door.Also at the same Troy was working part-time at the Pocomoke City Police Dept as a Police Officer.Troy was in law enforcement for over twenty years and is very creditable and the documents back him up.The documents show that Bobby investigated himself and that he cleared himself. That Troy was forced to change his eight day old Police report and delete his three follow up reports.That Troy was arrested and read his rights,then un arrested.That Troy was ordered to place false charges on a black suspect.Bobby had the taxpayers pay Troy his 42,000.00 salary for over a year during Bobby's investigation of Troy.Bobby spent thousands of dollars of taxpayers to have George Nelson and Renny Miles,who both have been cops for twenty five years to investigated Troy,only for Troy to be found not by a trial board that had been hand picked by Bobby.Now two years later and thousands of dollars later Troy's case is still open with a pending a ten million lawsuit in federal court.The documents don't lie and this why Bobby and his crew will say or do anything to make the case go away.
